Over 26 years experience in the field of public health/environmental health with 23 of those years focused on developing countries. Have worked in acute emergencies, transition/recovery and development contexts with experience gained in Thailand, Cambodia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Afghanistan and Kenya/Southern Sudan. Predominant experience is with NGOs mainly with Concern Worldwide but also MSF (Belgium) and Trocaire. Consultancy clients have included Irish Aid, UNICEF, Oxfam GB, Plan, Save the Children, Concern Worldwide, Welthungerhilfe (German), Mission East (Danish) and numerous teaching or training institutions in Ireland, the UK and Denmark.
Specialties: Teaching or training in public health and environmental health in particular with an emphasis on participatory techniques. Strong in the area of monitoring, evaluation and learning. Technically focused on all aspects of water supply, excreta management, hygiene promotion, vector control, waste management, shelter and settlement planning plus the control of pollution with a focus on indoor air pollution from cooking fires.
