Newstalk Global Village Discusses the World Humanitarian Summit
Current levels of humanitarian needs are the highest since the Second World War. At the beginning of 2016, 125 million people required humanitarian assistance. Over 60 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes as a direct result of conflict. And globally 50% of the world’s poor now live in conflict-affected and fragile states and that figure is set to rise to more than 80% by 2025. The World Humanitarian Summit is our opportunity to confront these and many more global challenges head-on.
